Introduction 

    ABM, GAS, HUMSS, AND TVL, these are the available strands here in our school at arteche national high school. just like me, i know most of the junior high school students were really confuse on were do you really choose a strand. well at first all of us felt that, but when you are baffle of your choice, better to think first before we choose. since that is needed when we proceed to college, it's because your strand will be connected to your college course.

What is General Academic strand

     This strand is for learners who are not yet decidedon what course to take on college. It is possible that the learner will be given bridging courses to assess his/her preparedness forthe field of study he/she will choose in the future.

the general academic strand (GAS) gives the senior high school students exposure a variety of different subjects, allowing them to explore each one to see which will be the best fit for them. with GAS, students can take: a wide selection of subjects including disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and organization and management. unlike other k to 12 tracks and strands that are specific to a career, GAS gives you the chance to weigh your options. GAS is a senior high school strand that takes on a generalist approach in preparing students for college.

Things you'll love in GAS

       1. GAS is a very versatile strand. It has topics that are also present in other strands

       2. It gives learners the ability to explore their interests to decide what course to take on college.

       3. It provides ways for the doubtful students to think about their interest and preferred course when they go to college.

                            According to this pie chart by (ResearchGate.com) General Academic Strand is the third most enrolled strand in the Philippines. The reason for it's  popularity can perhaps be to the fact that it provides student's topics that help them decide what course to take in college and what profession to pursue later in life.

Conclusion 

  Being unsure on your studies is normal for a student and GAS has topics to help you decide.   If you are not yet decided on what course to take on college or what job to pursue. Then General Academic Strand is for you.
